Filth, feces, asses and farting. They are all recurring themes in Mozart's letters, which frequently offended the sensibilities of some of the 20th century's more prudish Mozart scholars. Especially notorious are the so-called Bäsle Letters, which Wolferl wrote to his cousin Anna Thekla Mozart when he was 21 years old. Experts have long kept them under wraps, since they don't fit in with the image of Mozart the genius.
