The final concert of the Festival O/Modernt is dedicated to music for string orchestra. Alongside the repertoire fixtures Metamorphoses for 23 solo strings by Richard Strauss and Arvo Pärt's Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten, the concert opens with one of Pärt's lesser known works: Silouan's Song was composed in 1991, and is based on a text by a figure from the Russian orthodox church. But the evening's centerpiece is the premiere of the Violin Concerto no. 2 by Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks featuring soloist Hugo Ticciati.

A production of the Festival O/Modernt.
