"The Sound of Light": for Teodor Currentzis, it is its "sound" that makes Jean-Philippe Rameau's music so groundbreaking and modern. His work is characterized by refinement, audacity, strong rhythms, radiance and moments of sheer amazement. When the album of the same name was released in 2014, it became clear just how modern Rameau's music must have sounded to his contemporaries. At the court of Ludwig XV, there was a clear split among music enthusiasts between followers of Lully, the conservative figure, and Rameau, the musician of the future. Currentzis delivers a raw, rhythmically charged and uncompromising performance of Rameau's music on the big stage, bringing out its profound beauty.

Teodor Currentzis appears by the kind permission of Sony Classical.
