At the Festival O/Modernt, jazz pianist Nils Landren follows in the tracks of the most famous jazz musician of all time, Miles Davis. Along the way, he finds points of contact with the works of Josquin Desprez und Igor Stravinsky. These meeting points are musical, but also conceptual: individualism, popularity, or simply the simultaneity of events – the program tries to open our ears to these connections. At the beginning of the 16th century, Josquin Desprez was the most popular composer in Europe, famed for his rich counterpoint. Igor Stravinsky was a composer of ecstatic moments and coarse rhythms, a provocateur of the early 20th century. Nils Landgren is classical trained and loves calling the borders separating genres into question.
