The 11th International German Piano Award will be held in Kronberg im Taunus for the first time this year. Of the six pianists – nominated by an independent jury – Michelle Candotti, Konstantin Emelyanov, Ilia Papoian, Jinhyung Park, Dmitry Sin and Slavomir Zaranok, two make it to the final. The task there is to convince the jury with two great piano concertos by Frédéric Chopin No. 1 in E minor Op. 11 and Ludwig van Beethoven No. 5 in E flat major Op. 73, in order to win prize money of 20,000 euros at the end and to win further funding (e.g. in the form of a CD recording). The winner of the International German Piano Award 2021, Dmitry Ablogin, will kick off the Grand Prix concert with the Cembalo Concerto No. 1 in D minor, BWV 1052 by Johann Sebastian Bach. At the end of the Grand Prix concert, all viewers in the hall and in the live stream can vote for their audience award winner, while the six-person jury consisting of pianists, professors, music managers and conductors chooses the winner of the International German Piano Award 2022. The finale will be conducted by Juri Gilbo and performed by the Philharmonia Frankfurt.
