Mozart, Strauss & Martinů

Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Andrés Orozco-Estrada

"The desire to go on stage must have an emotional motivation, and not an intellectual one", claims Andrés Orozco-Estrada. This year, he has taken charge of the MCO Academy, and for this concert, he brings together musicians from the academy with members of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. This is no mere symphonic business-as-usual: alongside Mozart's spirited Violin Concerto no. 3 featuring the young Austrian violinist Emmanuel Tjeknavorian and Strauss' bombastic "Heldenleben" symphony, the program also features Martinů's captivating and impulsive Double Concerto for Two String Orchestras, Piano and Timpani. There's sure to be plenty of emotional motivation.
