Thunderous bliss can be heard in the Fourth Symphony in F minor, Op. 36 by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Tchaikovsky's writing is jocose and spirited throughout the four movements, undeterred by the fanfares of fate that keep breaking into the action. In 1878, he dedicated the symphony to his patroness Nadezhda von Meck and sent her a program note - yet the biographical accuracy of his musical descriptions is disputed. Part 4 of the Tchaikovsky cycle recorded in 2017-2018 with Philippe Jordan and the Orchestre de l'Opéra national de Paris.
